Love your smile!

We all want that beautiful smile, right?  You know, the one that lights up a room; the one that everyone notices.  Well, what's more important is why you want that smile.  Severe crowding or crooked teeth can inhibit good brushing and flossing, making it harder to keep teeth and gums healthy.  In addition, crooked teeth or a bite that doesn't align may strain jaw muscles and wear down teeth over time.  A complimentary consultation at Dr. Hutta's office to explore how orthodontics can give you that healthy smile that "lights up the room" is just the beginning to a lifetime of self-confident smiles!

Dental Health Month

February is National Dental Health Month, and Dr. Hutta and Team would like to give you some important tips for good oral hygiene, especially while in braces.

--Always brush for 2 minutes using short, gentle strokes, paying extra attention to the gumline and hard-to-reach areas such as the back teeth.  Make sure you brush at least in the morning and bedtime, and after meals when possible.
--Remember to floss!  Make sure to get beneath the gumline and curve the floss around the base of each tooth.
--Choose healthy snacks such as cheese, fruits and vegetables.  Avoid sticky, chewy candies that can stick to your teeth.  If you do eat these snacks, be sure to brush after eating them!
--Carbonated and sugary drinks create acids that can damage the teeth when mixed with saliva so they should be avoided.  If you're going to drink one of these beverages don't sip on it throughout the day; drink it and then brush your teeth.
--In addition to seeing Dr. Hutta for your regular appointments, visit your general dentist for professional check-ups and cleaning every six months.

Practice these tips and you will be on you way to a healthy beautiful smile!
